November Spotlight: Join Us for a Season of Giving

Oct 30, 2017 | Native Hope

We are passionate about our work to equip Native American youth with the tools and resources they need to reach their potential and pursue their dreams. We believe in the power of community and in joining together to provide a platform for the voices of this generation’s Native youth to be heard. We invite you to join us on this journey to shatter the silence that has existed for far too long and to see the future of Native American culture and its people thrive!

emme_season_of_giving.jpgMany Native youth are determined to see their cultural heritage not only preserved but also flourishing for generations to come. For instance, Emme, a member of the Oglala Lakota tribe, is working towards her goal of becoming an Art History professor. She hopes to educate others about the impact of Native American art and its ability to inspire hope in many different ways. She explains, "With Native American art there is symbolism, history, culture, politics, spirituality, philosophy, myth, and academics. Native American art inspires hope because it says that we are here. We are strong, intelligent, thriving, and we can do anything we set our minds to, because we are here."

We invite you to collaborate with us

This giving season we are excited to offer simple ways for you to collaborate with us in raising proceeds that will help fund vital programs that focus on:

  • Education and mentorship.
  • Suicide prevention and counseling.
  • Crucial resources for victims of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and abuse.
  • Lakota language training, cultural renewal, and finding solutions for transgenerational trauma.

One of the easiest ways you can join us is by starting your very own Facebook fundraiser. According to Social Media Today, the average person will spend nearly two hours (approximately 116 minutes) on social media every day! Just imagine the possibilities we could see take place within Native communities, and the lives of Native American youth, if each one of us would take a few minutes of our time on social media to create a Facebook Fundraiser for Native Hope. It’s incredibly fast and easy! And when you’re done, don’t forget to create your temporary profile picture with a custom Native Hope frame!

This is a great way to rally your friends and family together for a cause you’re passionate about and to join in the spirit of the upcoming giving season. Think about the impact we could have together if we each chose to harness our online influence for good.

Voices joining the movement

Gail I., a Native Hope donor, states: “I believe in building up all people. Education provides a path for better understanding and communication. I'm hoping these funds will help to strengthen and enrich the lives of the young women and men who are involved.”

Another one of our recent donors, Jennifer W., believes that: “...there is a great need to empower our youth to not only honor their heritage but also to protect the future, providing a heritage for future generations to learn from."

Marlene S. recently shared her personal story with us: “My brother took his life on December 29, 2015. Anything I can do to contribute to a cause that helps prevent suicide will bring me some peace. I am saddened to know that suicide has so drastically affected Native American young people. I stand with you."

This giving season, join us to dismantle barriers and inspire hope for Native voices unheard. Donate today or click below to find out how easy it is to create your own Facebook fundraiser.
